Website change alerts in Telegram
Gairė sends its alerts to your own Telegram chat. Under Recipients, choose Telegram and press Start in the chat that opens with @GaireAlertsBot. From then on every alert about your pages comes there: the item, its old and new value, and a link. There's no bot of your own to make, and no token or chat ID to find.
How to set it up
- Add the page you want to watch on the add screen.
- Under Recipients, choose Telegram and press “Open Telegram”.
- Press Start in the chat. The link works once, for 15 minutes.
- To pause, send /stop in the chat. To resume, send /start.
The limits, plainly
- Your own chat only, not a group or a channel. For a team, an alert can go to a Slack, Discord or Microsoft Teams channel instead.
- Telegram alerts don't use your monthly texts, and they have no count of their own.
- Telegram delivers them under its own privacy policy, outside the European Union. Our privacy page says what it receives: the chat's ID and name, and the alerts.
- You need a Gairė account. It's free, for 10 pages.
When another tool fits better
- Everything on your own server: changedetection.io with a bot you make yourself.
- Visualping also sends alerts to Telegram, on every plan.
Also: watching a Telegram channel
Gairė can watch a public Telegram channel's page (t.me/<channel>) and tell you about each new post.
Questions
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Telegram alerts are free on every plan and don't use your texts.
- Can a group get them?
- Not yet: only a personal chat. Team channels work through Slack, Discord or Teams.
- What does a message say?
- The same as the email or text: what changed, from what to what, and a link to the change.
