Price drop on shop.example: Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5.
In short. Price monitoring tools come in two kinds. If you have a few dozen pages to watch, a page monitor is enough. If you have a catalogue to match, you want the first kind.

Price monitoring tools come in two kinds:
- Competitor price software for shops (Prisync, Price2Spy, Pricefy) matches your catalogue against competitors' and reports on hundreds or thousands of products. It is priced by the number of products. The lowest price listed on their pages is $49 a month.
- Page monitors (Visualping, Distill, PageCrawl, UptimeRobot, Gairė) watch any page you give them and tell you when its price changes. They are priced by the number of pages, and all of them have a free plan.
We make Gairė, one of the eight. We say where another tool fits better.

Which one fits
- You have hundreds of products and need them matched to competitors' listings: Prisync, Price2Spy or Pricefy. Pricefy's paid plans start lowest, at $49 a month, and it has a free plan for 50 products.
- You want many pages for little money, and email is enough: UptimeRobot's free price tool (50 pages, every 5 minutes) or PageCrawl ($160 a year for up to 200 pages).
- You need checks every few minutes: Visualping, Distill, PageCrawl or UptimeRobot. Gairė's fastest is every 15 minutes.
- You want a text in the US or Canada: Visualping. Gairė's texts don't reach those numbers, though its emails reach anywhere.
- You want a text in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland or Portugal, included in the price: Gairė.
- You watch a list page (a category, a search, a listings feed): Gairė reads the list as items. It tells you which item is new, which dropped in price and which sold out, not just "the page changed". PageCrawl also reports new items on a list.
- You're a shopper with one thing in mind: Chrome's built-in price tracking may be enough, if you live where it works (see the questions below).
Where Gairė fits
Gairė is a page monitor. It reads a page as items and prices, and it texts you or messages you in Telegram what changed: a price, a new listing, an item back in stock. It suits a small shop watching a few dozen competitor pages, or a buyer waiting for one price. It has a public record for every watch, with its checks, its misses and how fast each alert went out.
What it doesn't do yet: chart a price over time. It doesn't match a catalogue or reprice; the shop tools above do.
Questions
- What is a price monitoring tool?
- It checks a product page, or a competitor's catalogue, on a schedule and tells you when a price changes. Shop tools also match products and report across a catalogue. Page monitors watch the pages you give them.
- Is there a free price monitoring tool?
- Yes. Pricefy's free plan covers 50 products, checked daily. UptimeRobot's free price tool covers up to 50 pages, with email alerts. Gairė's free plan covers 10 pages hourly, with 30 texts a month. Visualping, Distill and PageCrawl have small free plans.
- How often should prices be checked?
- For a competitor's everyday prices, once or a few times a day is usually enough. For short sales and stock that sells out fast, hourly or faster.
- Can I get a text message when a price drops?
- Yes, from Gairė (included, to five European countries), Visualping (US and Canada, from $35 a month) and Distill (from $15 a month).
- Does Chrome track prices?
- Yes, for people in Australia, Canada, India, Japan and the US who are signed in to Chrome with tab and history sync on. It alerts by email, and on Android also by notification.
